We Have Come This Far By Faith…..
The story of White Oak Worship Center is one that is not concluded but is continuing to be written. Over the years, there have been opportunities to close the book and accept the present day as our final chapter. However, we have chosen to continue to move forward in faith, and our Lord Jesus Christ continues to write new chapters for us each day.
In looking forward, we should always take the opportunity to appreciate where we’ve been. We know that our past doesn’t dictate our future, though, and we must never take for granted the blessings of our experiences.
White Oak Worship Center was chartered in June 1977 as Full Gospel Fellowship Church with sixteen people who desired to be a light to our community and provide a place where all people could freely worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In White Oak Worship Center’s infancy the Lord blessed and our present day senior pastor, Roger Ewing, began his pastorate in February 1980. From 1980 until 2009, White Oak Worship Center was located on Luna Lake Road in Danville, Virginia. The Lord blessed the church over these years with many new faces. Also, the church grew with several building additions.
In 2003 it was recognized that the church needed more room to grow, therefore plans were begun to relocate to our present location in Blairs, Virginia. In June 2009 we moved into our present facility. Since that time, the Lord has continued to bless us, and we have nearly doubled in our weekly attendance.
We are delighted that we’ve come this far by faith, but the story of White Oak Worship Center is still being written. Exciting plans are being made to construct a new family life center that will include a six hundred seat fellowship hall with commercial kitchen and a youth and children’s ministry center that will accommodate hundreds of young people.
We are excited about the chapters our author, Jesus, has yet to write for this fellowship of believers!
"Looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
